A correctly cut violin bridge can do as much for tone in a violin as the soundpost. First the feet are carefully cut to fit the top of the violin. Then, the top arch is cut for string height and planed to the correct thickness.
The kidneys, heart and lower arch are cut to tune the bridge by regulating the mass of the
maple.
